House Robbed!!

Well been on the server for about 2 months saved up.... tonight I was going back to my house during a champ spawn to drop off my new plat ..... must of left the front door unlocked and got wiped out by Taylor Swift and someone else...... They got a pretty good haul.... even took my empty bottles and bags ....... But UO is a strange mistress and I would of done the same to them.... Back to the Grind

A cautionary tale about the imperative of maintaining good home security with locked doors, detect hidden and table walls.

well the good news is i had a bunch of junk piled up that I had been meaning to get rid of....... so not all is lost.

Getting robbed can be a real drag. Glad to hear you're taking it so well. Do you know which Taylor Swift it was? There are currently 10 seperate characters named Taylor Swift and 2 of them are members of guilds.

Was the PK Taylor Swift had a friend with him but they recalled as soon as I came in.

I'm compelled to share.

Alex is highly correct. Every home you have valuables in HAS to have blocking objects just inside the door. Every once in a while
I will notice the 2nd door unlocked on my patio. So I must be hitting it thinking I'm locking/unlocking the left one. But my box blockade
prevents anyone from going past that point.
I'm sure someone has found it, but then gets pissed they can't go beyond.

Sorry to hear about this, but it an extremely good lesson learned.

It also concerns me that you store your plat in a house, rather than your bank, because of situations just like this

And ya, it all come down to having some good home security and macros set up (unlock, walk in, lock, close, detect hidden, I ban thee.......or something similar to this).

You can have a door unlock/lock macro so you avoid unlocking the wrong door.

Yeps - there's no place safer than your bank box. Even if you have the utmost greatest house security setup, houses are still vulnerable to you forgetting to refresh them for 2 weeks.

Your highest value items should just stay there.

Getting robbed is occasionally refreshing. Nothing quite motivates the grind like having nothing.
I recall a time that the guild library got looted and it happened to have every magic item pulled from TMaps by the guild in the past few months. It was all gone and I was ultimately relieved of not having to ID and sort it all. lol

Just out of curiosity: what do you guys keep in the bank box other than gold/checks and platinum?
Slayers? Rares?

My dexxers usually have a small subset of weapons I use regularly (particularly the valorite runic bits). I also keep various runebooks in the banks and on my bard a selection of rares, clothing items and dyes.

If it's really that refreshing I'll happily take all of your pixels to give you time to re-kindle your love for the game.

You'll have to work for it, a lot harder than hitting your door unlock/lock macro.
