Admins : What do you think about setting up a discord channel?

    Infinitely better than IRC. And Free. With so many games / guilds out there using discord now it would be so convenient for people to have a UOR discord tab in their channel groupings.

    It seems pretty neat so far. I wonder if it'll catch on. Looks like it could possibly be embedded into the forums/website or something too.

    Catch on? its huge... Every guild in every major game uses it, every developer has an official channel. Its like....the norm now.

    Sorry i just remembered the dragon like two days ago. Ill log in on my day off this week and return it=) Sorry buddy. I got caught up in Albion.

    Discord is pretty IRC, + Skype , + Teamspeak + Facebook all at once. And you can have a tab for each specific discord server all open at once. All you have to do is click on the left and it swaps servers as quickly as if you were just swapping channels.

    The problem with discord is that its voice channels tend to degrade after 10-15 people are in it. It's still quite unpolished overall.

    I would say a decent alternative would be slack. While it does not include voice, it has a very robust plugin and api system so we would be able to have similar features to what we have now with trade bot and the rest. It's browser based but has a mobile app as well. It's also what I've used in my previous two jobs for intra-office communication, but mostly just devolves into Giphy spam...

    I've looked at it as well and it is very interesting. It is still very new to completely base a community on along with some of the development Darkwing and I would have to do to transfer over the bots and services we currently have in IRC.

    If they continue to develop in an open and free environment it could be a nice thing to use. However in the UO Community there is so much negativity (between servers) That you have to be extremely careful about the services you use and how they can be attacked by others.

    For instance one time a player from one server went to twitch and managed to get everyone who streamed UO banned from twitch by spamming fake reports. Even casual players with streams took months to regain their accounts.
